Big Lake Lions Recreation Center Phase II is complete. Phase II first floor has restrooms, four locker rooms, public nurse’s office, a meeting room/office and referee room. A new parking area has been smoothed out and marked. Phase II second floor has an elevator, windows overlooking the ice rink, Lions Club room, concessions, catering
kitchen, and restrooms. An Open House is set for August 9th from 6:30 to 9PM. Live band and appetizers along with volunteers, organizations, and legislatures who have helped make this project possible.
The Big Lake Lions continued to help with vision exams and glasses to local community members as well as hearing aides.
Houston High School hosted their 2nd annual Gun & Outdoor Show in the Recreation Center in April. Over 130 vendors were present.
Big Lake Lions hosted their annual Mother’s Day Bazaar at the East Lake Mall. Over 50 vendors were selling their crafts and items.
Annual Big Lake Spring Clean Up along Big Lake Road. Lots of trash collected and the recycling center gave out information to the volunteers. The Lions grilled hot dogs and burgers for the trash picker uppers.
Big Lake Lions 2nd annual Boat & Sport Show was held in May. Was successful with lots of vendors and attendees.
Mud Volleyball had 55 teams this year. The winning team was decided after 10PM.
The Mat Su Borough Assembly will be holding their September 2nd meeting at the Big Lake Lions rec center.
The Public Health Nurse will be opening soon since their office and room are now complete.
The Big Lake Lions have 30 members.
