The Juneau Mendenhall Flying Lions will be serving up their famous rib dinner on Saturday, November 1, starting at noon. We will keep serving until the ribs are gone!
This annual event has been taking place for 19 years and we’ve raised over $150,000 to benefit the American Diabetes Association!
This fundraising event is the creation of Lion Neil Atkinson and he has it down to a science: barbecued ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and this year apple pie and ice cream. You can buy a dinner plate for $15.00 per person or just a rack of ribs for $40.00. Last year’s event raised over $4,000.
The success of this fundraiser is due to the generous support of McGivney’s Sports Bar and Grill where the event takes place. They give us access to their kitchen and they help with much of the details. The Alaska Brewing Company is donating their famous beer and Fatmo’s will be cooking the ribs this year for us. We also appreciate the support from Super Bear, Food Services of America, and Sysco Food Service of Alaska for their generous donations as well.
