Big Lake Lions Recreation Center is complete and open.

Houston High School practices in the ice rink and holds their home hockey games here.
Other hockey groups have games and practices in our ice rink.

This Saturday we are hosting, along with Susitna Rotary, a dinner theater with prime rib and the Scared Scriptless comedy group, followed by fireworks from Houston Lions and Gorilla Fireworks at 9:15pm.

The Big Lake Lions continue to help with vision exams and glasses to local community
members as well as hearing aides. Vision screened at three schools and 120 children.

The Mat Su Borough Assembly held their September 2nd meeting at the Big Lake Lions
Recreation Center.

The Public Health Nurse office is now open in the rec. center.

We held our 3rd annual Big Lake Lions Hard Ice Classic Hockey Tournament in November
and then after it got cold again, in December over two weekends with 16 teams participating.

Houston High School held a hockey tournament in December with 8 teams participating
and they will host the state regional hockey tournament next weekend in our rink with 6
teams participating.

We served over 184 children with our Angel Tree of Giving.

We held a raffle, with the drawing just before Christmas, for a freezer filled with beef, pork
chicken and seafood.

We hosted canned food drives at the local schools and donated the food to help with
Thanksgiving food baskets for local families.

Access Alaska donated three skate sleds to our ice rink.

The Big Lake Lions have 30 members.
