Lions Clubs – Ready to Help, Worldwide
Whenever a Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller. And communities get better. That’s because we help where help is needed – in our own communities and around the world – with unmatched integrity and energy.
LCI – The World’s Largest Service Club Organization
Our 46,000 clubs and 1.35 million members make us the world’s largest service club organization. Lions Club International members do whatever is needed to help their local communities. Everywhere Lions work, we make friends: with children who need eyeglasses, with seniors who don’t have enough to eat and with people we may never meet.
Alaska Multiple District 49
District 49A and District 49B are the component Sub-Districts of Multiple District 49 (MD49). They service communities in Alaska, USA and Yukon, Canada. The Districts mostly operate autonomously. When cooperation is desired a committee consisting of the two District Governors and a Counsel Chairperson (elected each year from Past District Governors) decide how to best achieve the desired results. A MD49 Convention is held in April each year to decide major issues. The History of Multiple District 49 is found here.
District 49A, a Sub-District of MD49
District 49A is a Sub-District of the Lions Multiple District 49 (A & B). District 49A and 49B got their names from “Aurora Borealis.” District 49A covers the greater majority of the southern part of Alaska, while District 49B covers the northern part of Alaska and much of the western territories in Canada.
